Since the problem seems to be that you cannot run the game with Fraps at the same time as playing it normally, try running the game without Fraps first and once you have killed all the animals and walked around the game a bit, open up the game normally, and then go back to Fraps and start a game of Fraps.
The reason I think this may be the cause of the problem is that after you started a game with Fraps, you are likely to be at the same spot you were at when you stopped the game with Fraps, which is not where you were when you started the game with Fraps. So, if the game is starting at that spot when you stop the game normally, the game would likely be able to play fine.
Another thing you could do is completely clear the browser cache, and then go into Windows File Explorer and delete the.rog,.cfg, and.url files. Then re-install the game normally. This is a long shot, but worth a try.
By the way, the fact that you are using i686 is probably not a problem because the game was tested with this combination and it worked fine. But, if it is somehow not working for you, you can use the ix86 or x86_64 build for the game.
